Today’s students will be competing in a job market so vastly different from the last century that some experts estimate that more than 30 to 40 percent of the jobs they will be applying for have yet to be invented. Those jobs will require a more technologically savvy workforce to navigate through the digital-age marketplace.

In so many ways, the future is already here. Today’s ubiquitous access to information technology presents a revolutionary challenge to today’s teachers: What do students really need to know to be competitive in the workforce? It is not enough to just know the facts. Graduating students have to be able to use innovative technologies to collaborate with others so they can identify, analyze and solve problems and then communicate proposed solutions.
