Glaser steps down after seven years leading Napa schools

Glaser also led two long-term efforts to improve education — a district-wide push to expand so-called 21st century teaching techniques to students in all grades, and efforts to secure federal funding to create magnet schools with themes including math, arts, sciences and technology. The district’s first four magnet schools will open this fall.  

Napa County Superintendent of Schools Barbara Nemko said Glaser’s willingness to try new things has benefited Napa students on several levels.

“NVUSD has a long history of innovation, which includes the creation of the Napa Valley Language Academy, the Phillips Edison School and New Tech High,” she said. “John has taken it a step further, and worked hard to give students at Vintage and Napa High an opportunity to experience the benefits of the New Tech model over the past three years, through SC21.”
